The Making of a Spinner Ring

Several weeks ago, I participated in the Longmont Studio Tour, Longmont’s version of Open Studios, where artists around town open up their studios for the public to come and see where we work and dream.  

This was my first year participating in the tour and I had a wonderful time meeting many neighbors, community members and fellow artists.  

One awesome new friend, Kim, ordered a custom 3 layer spinner ring with her kid’s names on it.

Spinner Ring? Fidget Ring? You decide.

Spinner rings, also known as meditation rings, fidget rings or worry rings consist of a tall inner band, with outer rings that spin or “float” on the inner band.  They are super comfortable and very fun to play with!  

For this particular design, I create the inner ring from sterling silver and give it a hammered texture.  I then stamped each child’s first and middle name as well as birthday on three separate bands.  This is a mixed metals ring with silver, rose gold-filled and yellow gold-filled metals and I love the look of it!
